Data Envelopment Analysis
By: Ray, Subhash C.
Published by: Cambridge University Press
This book deals with the method of data envelopment analysis that uses mathematical programming techniques to obtain measures of efficiency of individual forms from their observed input and output quantities. This permits setting up realistic input-output targets for the firms' managers.

Elliptic Functions
By: Armitage, V.; Eberlein, W. F.
Published by: Cambridge University Press
This treatment of Jacobi elliptic functions seeks to answer the fascinating question: 'what would the treatment of elliptic functions have been like if Abel had developed the ideas, rather than Jacobi?' A rich variety of applications of the elliptic and related functions are also presented.

Numerical Methods in Engineering with Python
By: Kiusalaas, Jaan
Published by: Cambridge University Press
Numerical Methods in Engineering with Python is a text for engineering students and a reference for practicing engineers. The numerous examples and applications were chosen for their relevance to real world problems, and where numerical solutions are most efficient. The Python code is available on the book web site.

Abelian Varieties, Theta Functions and the Fourier Transform
By: Polishchuk, Alexander; Bollobas, B.; Fulton, W.; Katok, A.; Kirwan, F.; Sarnak, P.
Published by: Cambridge University Press
The aim of this book is to present a modern treatment of the theory of theta functions in the context of algebraic geometry. The novelty of its approach lies in the systematic use of the Fourier-Mukai transform.

Advanced Engineering Mathematics with MATLAB, Second Edition
By: Duffy, Dean G.
Published by: Chapman & Hall/CRC
Updated and expanded, the second edition of this popular text provides solid background in the mathematics required throughout the engineering disciplines. The author has added three new chapters on differential equations and Hilbert transforms and many new examples, problems, and projects that help build problem-solving skills and make the book even better suited to a wide variety of differential equations and engineering mathematics courses. Most importantly, the book now incorporates the use of MATLAB to reinforce the concepts presented. MATLAB code is included so that readers can take an analytic result and fully explore it graphically.

Algebra and Number Theory
By: Boulagouaz, M'hammed; Tignol, Jean-Pierre
Published by: Marcel Dekker, Inc.
This study demonstrates the key manipulations surrounding Brauer groups, graded rings, group representations, ideal classes of number fields, p-adic differential equations and rationality problems of invariant fields. It also describes developments in noncommutative valuation theory.

Algebraic Geometry and Arithmetic Curves
By: Liu, Qing; Erne, Reinie (trans.)
Published by: OUP Oxford
This new-in-paperback edition provides an introduction to algebraic and arithmetic geometry, starting with the theory of schemes, followed by applications to arithmetic surfaces and to the theory of reduction of algebraic curves. Clear explanations of both theory and applications, and almost 600 exercises are included in the text. - ;This new-in-paperback edition provides a general introduction to algebraic and arithmetic geometry, starting with the theory of schemes, followed by applications to arithmetic surfaces and to the theory of reduction of algebraic curves. The first part introduces basic objects such as schemes, morphisms, base change, local properties (normality, regularity, Zariski's Main Theorem). This is followed by the more global aspect: coherent sheaves and a finiteness theorem for their cohomology groups. Then follows a chapter on sheaves of differentials, dualizing sheaves, and Grothendieck's duality theory. The first part ends with the theorem of Riemann-Roch and its application to the study of smooth projective curves over a field. Singular curves are treated through a detailed study of the Picard group. The second part starts with blowing-ups and desingularisation (embedded or not) of fibered surfaces over a Dedekind ring that leads on to intersection theory on arithmetic surfaces. Castelnuovo's criterion is proved and also the existence of the minimal regular model. This leads to the study of reduction of algebraic curves. The case of elliptic curves is studied in detail. The book concludes with the fundamental theorem of stable reduction of Deligne-Mumford. This book is essentially self-contained, including the necessary material on commutative algebra. The prerequisites are few, and including many examples and approximately 600 exercises, the book is ideal for graduate students. -

Algebraic Geometry and Number Theory
By: Ginzburg, Victor (ed.)
Published by: Springer
One of the most creative mathematicians, Vladimir Drinfeld has received the Fields Medal in 1990. This book presents a collection of invited papers by mathematicians in algebra, algebraic geometry, and number theory dedicated to Drinfeld. It reflects the range of Drinfeld's own interests in algebra, algebraic geometry, and number theory.

Analytic Methods for Diophantine Equations and Diophantine Inequalities
By: Davenport, H.; Browning, T. D.
Published by: Cambridge University Press
Harold Davenport was one of the truly great mathematicians of the twentieth century. Based on lectures he gave at the University of Michigan in the early 1960s, this book is concerned with the use of analytic methods in the study of integer solutions to Diophantine equations and Diophantine inequalities.

Analytic Number Theory
By: Bateman, Paul T; Diamond, Harold G
Published by: World Scientific
This valuable book focuses on a collection of powerful methods of
analysis that yield deep number-theoretical estimates. Particular
attention is given to counting functions of prime numbers and
multiplicative arithmetic functions. Both real variable ("elementary")
and complex variable ("analytic") methods are employed.
